DOVER
The town of Dover is a suburban community located southwest of the metropolitan Boston. Incorporated in 1784, Dover relied on its farms until the 18th century mills gained a foothold on the community. Known for its large country estates, wealthy Bostons created nearly 20 estates on parcels of land up to 400 acres by 1914. Modern Dover is still a residential community, convenient for residents working North in Boston or South in Providence.
HOLLISTON
With population of nearly 15,000, Holliston is located in Middlesex county. A traditional New England town, Holliston maintains an active Newcomers Club. The public school system includes Holliston High, Adams Middle School, Miller Elementary, and Placentino Elementary. With a golf course, a sportsmen's association, nine houses of worship, and its own cable access channel, Holliston also has committees for preservation, town forests, trails. Holliston voted for preservation of open space, historic resources, and community housing, and receives matching funds from the state in support of its town funding.
NORFOLK
The town of Norfolk is a quiet, semi-rural suburban community, with a population of just over 10,000 residents, and approximately 2,900 households. Bordering Walpole, Wrentham, Millis, Medway, Franklin, Scituated along the Charles River, the town's children attend Norfolk schools until middle school age, when regional schools in Wrentham or the vocational school in Franklin. Norfolk also has its own library, and recreation services, and a web cam online.
NORWOOD
Norwood is fourteen miles from Boston, thirty miles from Providence, and boasts a population of nearly 30,000. Managed by an elected board of selectmen, Norwood has fully staffed police and fire departments, and Caritas/Norwood Hospital. With five elementary schools, one junior high, one high school, one private school (grades 1-8), and one regional vocational school. Norwood offers many activities, convenient services and excellent shopping. With a recreational center, public outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts, golf courses, indoor and outdoor concerts, supervised playgrounds, hotels and motels , a variety of restaurants, numerous fraternal and social organizations, and a public library, Norwood has alot to offer it's residents.
WESTWOOD
Westwood, with a population of 14,500, is a smaller established community located 12 miles southwest of Boston. Two libraries, two commuter rail lines and full bus transportation with service to Boston add convenience for the Westwood commuters. Westwood has over 130 commercial and industrial business located within the town. Recreational facilities - including conservation areas, playgrounds, ballfields, and indoor pool - are available in Westwood.
In 2005, Westwood was rated America's 13th Best town to live in by Money Magazine. Westwood is recognized regularly for the quality its schools. In 2003, Westwood ranked #8 in Massachusetts, and in the top 40% of schools across the country. |
